Later in Fall
I decided to go out for a few hours one afternoon to see what Bower Woods looked like after almost 50cm of snow fell over couple of weeks. Virtually no one else was around, likely because the trails were rather difficult to walk and the temperature was around -14°C. There wasn’t the slightest breeze and the only sounds, other than background city noise, were a few squirrels who seemed to be overreacting to my presence and Downy Woodpeckers pecking away at some old dead snags. The squirrels managed to knock quite a bit of snow onto me as they jumped from tree to tree above, some of which made it’s way down the back of my neck!! Piper Creek meanders through Bower Woods and is completely frozen over and covered in snow.
